What is Presbyopia?
Presbyopia is a condition where the eye's ability to focus decreases with age, making it difficult to see nearby objects clearly.
Symptoms typically begin to appear around the age of 40.
The main cause of presbyopia is the deterioration of the crystalline lens due to aging.
The crystalline lens adjusts its thickness depending on the distance of objects, helping to focus images precisely on the retina.
However, as we age, the elasticity of the lens decreases and its accommodative function weakens, making it harder to maintain clear near vision.
As a result, nearby text may appear blurry, eye fatigue increases easily,
and symptoms such as delayed focus switching when alternating between near and far objects may occur.

Signs of change from your eyes: presbyopia self-check
Wondering if you have presbyopia? If 3 or more of the items below apply to you, a precise exam is recommended.
- Near visionText messages and small print are not as clear as they used to be.
- Reading glassesNearby text is more comfortable to read with reading glasses on.
- Reading distanceYou hold newspapers and books farther and farther away when reading.
- Light sensitivityVision drops sharply in dim environments or when you're tired.
- Eye fatigueYour eyes tire easily or you squint frequently during near-distance tasks.
- Focus switchingSwitching focus between far and near is slower than before.

Monovision Presbyopia Correction
One eye for far, one eye for near — the brain finds the optimal visual balance
Standard vision correction that matches both eyes equally has limitations for presbyopia improvement.
Monovision is a presbyopia-specific correction method that divides the roles of both eyes.
The ‘dominant eye’ is adjusted for distance vision, while the ‘non-dominant eye’ is adjusted for near vision.
The brain then naturally integrates the visual information received from both eyes,
forming balanced vision for both near and far distances without glasses or reading glasses.
