A. Right to Receive Medical Care Patients have the right to receive appropriate healthcare services to protect their health. B. Right to Information and Self-Determination Patients have the right to receive thorough explanations from their attending physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers regarding their medical condition, treatment methods, eligibility for medical research, organ transplantation, potential side effects, expected outcomes, and medical costs. Patients may ask detailed questions and have the right to decide whether to consent to treatment.
C. Right to Confidentiality Patients shall not have their physical or health-related secrets and privacy violated in connection with medical treatment. Healthcare providers and medical institutions shall not disclose or publish such information without the patient's consent, except in cases prescribed by law such as criminal investigations.
D. Right to Request Counseling and Mediation In the event of a dispute related to medical services, patients may request counseling and mediation from the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency or similar organizations.
A. Duty of Trust and Respect Toward Healthcare Providers Patients shall accurately inform healthcare providers of their health-related information, and shall trust and respect the treatment plans of their healthcare providers.
B. Duty Not to Receive Medical Care Through Fraudulent Means Patients shall disclose their identity before receiving medical treatment, and shall not receive medical care through false or fraudulent means, such as using another person's identity.
